Homework Hub Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 18, 2026 • Last Updated: October 2026
1. Introduction & Core Commitment
Homework Hub (“we,” “us,” or “our”), created by educator Ceman Dejamo Tudlasan, operates an interactive homework submission, scoring, and feedback platform designed specifically for primary, secondary, and collegiate educators and students.
We are passionately committed to protecting the privacy, safety, and digital dignity of all users, particularly young learners. We adhere strictly to the principle of data minimization: we never collect more information than is strictly necessary to deliver an exceptional, equitable educational experience.
2. Student Data Protection (COPPA & FERPA Compliance)
We recognize the sensitive nature of student educational records and fully uphold the standards established by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- No Student Accounts Required: Students do not create accounts, set passwords, or provide personal email addresses. Access to assignments is provided directly through teacher portal links or school section selection.
- Zero Commercial Profiling: Student assignment submissions, mathematical scratchpad drawings, and classroom quiz answers are never used to build commercial advertising profiles, behavioral graphs, or targeted marketing personas.
- Parent & School Rights: Parents and authorized school administrators may review or request deletion of student submission records at any time by contacting the class teacher or our privacy officer.
3. Information We Collect
A. Information Provided by Teachers
When a teacher registers for an educator account, we collect their full name, educational email address, school affiliation, and preferred interface language (English, Thai, or Filipino). Teachers also create and store assignments, rubrics, and gradebook records.
B. Information Submitted by Students
When completing an assignment, a student inputs their name or nickname, student ID/seat number, answers to assignment questions, and optional scratchpad drawings. In the Students Lounge, students may post peer-to-peer encouragement under an anonymous or chosen nickname.
C. Technical & Operational Data
We use secure Google Firebase Authentication and Firestore to maintain encrypted sessions. Server logs automatically record standard diagnostic metrics (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamp) solely for network security, abuse prevention, and rate-limiting.
4. Cookies, Local Storage & Advertising Disclosures
Homework Hub utilizes essential browser storage tokens and third-party advertising cookies under strict regulatory standards:
Essential Local Storage: We use your browser's local storage to prevent data loss. If a student's browser accidentally closes or reloads during a test, their active drafted answers are safely preserved locally on their device.
Google AdSense & Third-Party Cookies: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, users can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
5. Artificial Intelligence (Clef AI) Processing
Homework Hub integrates an automated AI tutor and grading helper called Clef AI. When a student requests a hint or submits work for automated checking, the assignment text and student answer are processed via secure Google Cloud AI API endpoints.
We do not transmit personally identifiable student records (such as home addresses, phone numbers, or demographic data) to AI models. Data transmitted for inference is used solely to generate instantaneous feedback and is never repurposed to train public foundation models.
6. Data Security & Retention
All data transmitted to Homework Hub is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS/SSL encryption. Data at rest is secured within Google Firebase Cloud Firestore clusters governed by rigorous security rules that enforce role-based access.
Teachers maintain complete sovereignty over their data: they can export assignment score matrixes to CSV or Excel, archive past semester records, or permanently purge student submission records at any time from their Teacher Dashboard.
